UW Badgers Youthful Basketball Team is Growing
UW Men’s Basketball team is very young. They currently only have two starting seniors and 4 seniors overall. Coach Bo Ryan says that his team is persevering.
The team is currently riding a four game win-streak that was preceded by a six game skid. The Badgers are hoping to improve upon their 16-9 (7-6 Big Ten) record with their Thursday game against Indiana (6-18; 1-11) in Bloomington.
Bo Ryan said this about his team, “They keep working, don’t put their heads down, they just come to practice every day. If they struggle in an area, they’re still trying to contribute in other areas.”
A standout player on this young team is sophomore forward Jon Leuer. Leuer started in all of the last four games the badgers own and has scored an average of nine points per game.

Tauscher Out
Packer's offensive tackle Mark Tauscher tore his ACL during the Packers 21-24 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday. He will now be placed on season-ending injured reserve list. This loss comes as a huge blow to the Packers both on the field on off. He has played in all 16 games for 4 of the past 5 seasons and has had a crucial leadership role in the locker room.
Tauscher is currently in the final year of his contract, his future with the Packers has not been discussed yet by head coach McCarthy. Third-year pro Tony Moll stepped in for Tauscher during Sunday's game. He will likely be the right tackle for the rest of the season. He previously filled in for Tauscher in 2006 when he was out for five games with an injury.

Barnett Out Rest of the Year
Packer's Linebacker Nick Barnett will be out for the rest of the season. Barnett suffered a torn knee ligament (ACL) during Sunday's 28-27 loss against the Minnesota Vikings. Desmond Bishop acted as Barnett's replacement during the rest of Sundays game but the Packers will likely find a different replacement for the remainder of the season such as moving A.J Hawk or Brandon Chillar to the middle position. Prior to this injury the Packer's run defense was already struggling so this is a huge blow.

Packers 2-0
2 games into the 2008-2009 NFL season the Packers are 2-0 following wins against the Vikings on Monday and the win today agains the Lions (48-25 final). Rodgers had 3 TD passes and the defense scored off a couple of interceptions. The Lions did have a brief 25-24l lead but weren't able to hang on. So far so good for the Packers and Rodgers.

Brett's a Jet
All the drama surrounding what would become of Brett Favre is now finally over. It was recently announced that Favre will be wearing the green and white for the Jets instead of the Green and Gold for the Packers. It is unfortunate that things had to end the way they did. It will be hard to watch Favre play for a different team, and we hope Rodgers can do his job for the Packers. The Packers have also postponed the retiring of Favre's jersey that was suppose to take place during their opener against the Vikings. That day will come once Favre actually retires.

Brewers Obtain Durham from Giants
The Brewers have obtained switch-hitting 2nd baseman Ray Durham from the San Francisco Giants. The Giants got Class A outfielder Darren Ford and Triple A left-hander Steve Hammond. Rickie Weeks will continue to be the starting 2nd baseman, Ned Yost plans to play Durham a couple times a week and see how it goes.
"We are trying to get as many good players as we can," said Milwaukee General Manager Doug Melvin, "We're trying to win this thing."
Durham stated that it was a "weird feeling" watching the finally of the Brewers 3 game series on Sunday and then packing up to fly with the Brewers to St. Loise where he will be wearing the #5 uniform tonight.
Durham will be valuable for his nearly equal stats. As a left-handed hitter against right-handed pitchers he has a .279 average with .354 on-base percentage. And vice versa he has a .277 average with a .344 on-base percentage.
